PMG to present for the Project Management Institute, the Association for Project Management and PMOZ

25 May 2004 - Hydra Managementplc , the program and collaborative management software specialist, today announced that Strategy Director, Geoff Reiss will be presenting at UK regional events for the Project Management Institute (PMI) and the Association for Project Management (APM), and will also be the key note speaker at PMOZ in Melbourne.

Reiss' presentations will focus on how organisations can exploit leading edge program management methodologies and technology to improve their ability to implement projects effectively across their enterprise. Reiss covers the key concepts of program management, how it works in practice, the benefits, how fast these benefits are being realised by organisations, what the barriers are to adoption and the limitations of such techniques.

“Managing projects and programs successfully is often viewed as a balancing act,” said Reiss. “You have to align with business objectives, maximise the use of resources and talent, provide stakeholders with timely visibility of progress and issues, govern a portfolio of project activities and automate your business processes. All this needs to be continuously monitored and improved, but the real trick is to keep them synchronised. The problem is, many are ‘locked-in' by legacy practice and software applications that makes juggling these dynamics unwieldy and difficult.”

“Forward-thinking organisations are increasingly turning to best practice in program and collaborative management. You only have to take a look at the increasing pressure their IT departments are under, to deliver against ever-demanding operational requirements, regulatory standards and deadlines, to see why. They are challenged to cut costs, improve their ability to manage resources in line with strategic business initiatives and demonstrate the full value of their IT investments. You can only truly achieve this through effective project and program management” added Reiss.

Reiss has pioneered the concepts of project management for around 30 years. He led the first development of project management software for the Apple microcomputer, has written a number of books on the subject of project management including ‘Programme Management Demystified' and ‘Project Management Demystified', is Chairman of the Specific Interest Group ProgM, and is Director of Product Strategy for the Hydra ManagementPLC

The PMI events are being held in Bath on May 26th 2004 and London on June 2nd 2004. The APM events are taking place on June 10th 2004 and Abingdon on July 21st 2004. PMOZ will be held in Melbourne in August 2004.
