Barco strives for world leadership through innovative program management software - Hydra!Leeds, England 5th February 2004 - Barco is a global company, present in almost 100 countries, and is active in three key areas of imaging technology. The company designs and develops solutions for large-screen projection, visualisation solutions for life-critical decision making, and optical systems for visual inspection. Barco have implemented the Hydra toolset after rigorous tests against a wide variety of other tools. This highlighted Hydra's superior ability to better schedule, manage resources and projects as part of an integrated program. More about Barco can be found at www.barco.com. Johan Remmerie, Technology Director of Barco commented 'Our biggest issue is efficiently managing resources and multiple resource pools across multiple projects. Within Barco we have multiple project teams each working on several projects sometimes with personnel loaned between groups. It is difficult to fully understand each team's project status, resource loading, and future availability to support new projects'. Remmerie, concluded 'Without the proper tools it is common to over or under commit on projects. When over committed, project dates are not met; slipped projects have a compounding affect throughout the organisation causing inefficiencies in other groups as they react to the delay. Presently this is very difficult to clearly see. However, by adopting Hydra we anticipate a reduction in project timescales and improvement in the number of projects meeting their deliveries'. 'Industry estimates suggest 5% to 10% improved utilisation across the engineering team by the use of proper planning tools and procedures' said Peter Bondar, CEO - Program Management Group. 'Barco currently employees 800 engineering people - a 10% efficiency improvement is equivalent to 80 engineers'. |
