Benefits of Personal PlanningHydra offers easy-to-use and integrated timesheet and personal plan facilities. Each team member connected to the system has access to Hydra Personal, providing personal planning and timesheet reporting functionality. The timesheet allows collection of actual data and latest estimates of remaining work. The Diary View provides a personal schedule as well as a convenient method of recording personal notes and actual achievement. This is automatically updated for every resource with access to the system when a manager publishes their plan. Hydra users may keep their Hydra software iconised on their desktop most of the day. From time to time they will call up their personal schedule and enter actual achievement to date. All of the team member's work may be shown on the diary including project work on many projects; non-project work like meetings, vacations, normal everyday operations, training and other absences as well as personal notes. Double clicking an item in the diary allows the user to record actual work done along with any notes and comments. Right clicking allows the user to report time that was not planned, planned outside this period or time spent on new tasks. New tasks are brought to the immediate attention of the manager on timesheet submission. Records of actual achievements are automatically transferred from the diary to the timesheet and these can then be amended and completed. Individuals have the opportunity to estimate the remaining effort, making plans much more realistic than traditional methods such as estimating % complete or the project manager having to estimate remaining effort. Timesheets may be submitted for any period and periods may vary per plan. Users also have the ability to raise issues against tasks they are working on. These are also escalated to the project managers and added to the project issue register.
